Luca Coser
Luca Coser
Born in Trento, Italy, Coser now lives in Milan, working as a teacher of Design for Contemporary Art at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, Milan. Since graduating, he has been the subject of several solo and group exhibitions including CRAG Gallery in Verona; Basile Gallery in Rome; and UMA Gallery in Novara.
Truth and fiction coexist in Luca Coser’s paintings. Affirmation and negation. Serenity and trepidation. These conflicts are expressed on abstract canvases, and serve as a metaphor for the human soul.
Coser’s paintings begin from personal experiences, reflecting more broadly on the precariousness of identity, the singularity of existence, and the collective unconscious. In lieu of the painted figure, a patchwork of superimposed drawings and overlapping graphics are the real protagonists, many of which are shrouded in a glacial translucent wash of white acrylic paint.
